The city of Sedona in Arizona is once again providing a convenient way for residents to recycle their Christmas trees. From December 28, 2023, to January 31, 2024, the city's maintenance yard, located at 2070 Contractors Rd, will be accepting trees for recycling. The drop-off hours are Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
To ensure that the trees can be properly recycled, it is important to prepare them before dropping them off. The trees must be free of lights, tinsel, ornaments, nails, stands, and plastic wrapping. It is also requested that residents do not bring any yard debris along with their trees.
The recycled trees will serve a valuable purpose in the local environment. They will be offered to the U.S. Forest Service to be used as erosion control in the national forest. Additionally, mulch made from the recycled trees will be made available to the community at the maintenance yard. The mulch will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
If you have any inquiries or need more information about the Christmas tree recycling program, you can contact the city's Public Works Department at 928-203-5063.
As the holiday season comes to an end, this initiative by the city of Sedona offers residents a responsible and environmentally-friendly way to dispose of their Christmas trees. By recycling the trees, they can be put to good use in erosion control and provide mulch for the community. So, if you're a Sedona resident with a Christmas tree to spare, don't miss the opportunity to contribute to the city's recycling efforts.
"We encourage all residents to take advantage of this recycling program and help us make a positive impact on our environment," said a representative from the city's Public Works Department.
It's important to remember that recycling is a collective effort, and every small action can make a difference. By recycling your Christmas tree, you are playing a part in preserving the natural beauty of Sedona and promoting sustainability.
So, gather up those trees, remove all decorations, and head over to the city's maintenance yard to give your Christmas tree a second life.
