I was looking for a graduate degree that would help me with my work and fortify my education. I found what I was seeking in the Prescott College Online Master of Arts Degree Program in Social Justice and Community Organizing (SJCO). It was a Google search for graduate programs in community organizing that started me on a path to success. Prescott College’s program was a choice. I turned down an acceptance for the Master of Public Service program at the at the University of Arkansas Little Rock Clinton School. Even with a $7,000 scholarship, I just did not want to take out a student loan for $28,000 to pay for that online graduate program. Due to the quality of courses of SJCO and the affordability, Prescott College became my choice.
I have grown so much since making this positive decision. I entered Prescott College earning scholarship help as a Mos.com Black Student Matters Scholar. All has been positive from the Prescott College online graduate experience through social justice and community organizing. My studies included work in advocacy research, leadership development, community journalism and organizing plus so much more. I helped with the College Presidential and Senior Registrar search committees asking questions to prospective candidates. I served as a 2021 Prescott College Graduate Colloquium Panelist for the Climate Justice Organizer's Call to Action Session.
I currently volunteer as a Fellow with GAIN Power helping people access and apply for job openings in the progressive movement through GAIN Power’s website. I work for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters where I serve as the Southern Region Political Coordinator. The graduate courses from Prescott College SJCO helped me focus. As a result, I have gained more essential skills for successful legislative organizing, political campaigning, and civic engagement. I would not have had these opportunities to be helpful if it wasn’t for Prescott College. So explore! Seek and see if the Prescott College Online SJCO Master’s Degree is right for you.
