Yavapai County residents will get a bit of a tax rate cut as the county's Board of Supervisors recently approved the 2020-2021 FY budget which reduces the county tax rate by 11 cents.
The Board of Supervisors approved the budget at its meeting after hearing public comment, according to a Yavapai County press release. The budget includes a drop in primary property, library district and flood control district tax rates.
"Now more than ever Yavapai County residents require us to watch every penny and account for every dollar collected and spent," chairman of the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors Craig Brown said in a statement. "I am proud of this Board, every Elected Official, and Department Director, that put in the effort needed to cut budgets where possible and postpone purchases when necessary. Reducing the tax rate by 11 cents was no small task.”
The Yavapai County 2020-2021 FY general fund operating budget is $118.9 million with a total budget of $298.9 million. The budget includes a criminal justice center project in Prescott and the Verde Connect Roadway project, according to the county.
