Public event scheduled at Insurgent Brewing Company in celebration of area businesses and the Yavapai College SBDC Small Business Makeover Program

Business1000

Yavapai College issued the following announcement on Sept. 13.

As a Makeover of a Lifetime winning business, Insurgent Brewing Company invites you for an evening of celebration, live music, tasty food, and local brews. Join your community and the Yavapai College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Insurgent Brewing Company’s Chino Valley location to celebrate their ongoing success and progress as a proud Makeover winner.

The Yavapai College SBDC implemented the Small Business Makeover Program (SBM) utilizing CARES Act funding to support area businesses impacted by the global pandemic. All 30 applicants of the Small Business Makeover Program had experienced a loss in revenue, an increase in costs, a temporary closure, or a lack of workforce since March of 2020.

To support participating businesses, the SBDC provided all applicants access to a business plan writing tool and to SBDC’s newly created online Business Bootcamp covering strategic business topics including marketing, business plan writing, finance, metric analysis, and employment law, among others.

Insurgent owners, Laura and Rob Valenzuela, were selected by a committee as one of two Makeover of a Lifetime winners for additional specialized support as part of the SBM Program. They have been working with SBDC Analyst, Marie Platowski-Beals, spending the last 6 months in one-on-one weekly meetings reinventing and reestablishing their business.

The hard work has paid off. The Valenzuela’s have completed an overhaul and redecoration of their bar and restaurant, redesigned their website, added new signage and exterior paint, and consulted with business experts on financial strategy and branding among many other expansion efforts.

The BIG REVEAL will take place at Insurgent Brewing Company, 990-AZ 89, Suite D from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 16th.

Come and celebrate with the Yavapai College SBDC team and the Insurgent Crew in an outdoor, open air setting. Insurgent will be releasing a new, limited edition brew, Makeover Marzen, for tasting and for sale.
