Work is making headway on the State Route 69 improvement project between Prescott Lakes Parkway and Heather Heights in Prescott. The project, a collaboration with the Central Yavapai Metropolitan Planning Organization, involves adding one travel lane in each direction on SR 69 from Prescott Lakes Parkway to Frontier Village, encompassing mileposts 294-295, along with a raised center median. A similar median will also be built from Yavpe Connector to Heather Heights.
Since the commencement of the construction last July, the $9.8 million undertaking is on schedule to be finalized this summer. The initial phase of the project has now concluded having achieved several benchmarks:
- The construction of outside curb and gutter between Prescott Lakes Parkway and Frontier Village.
- Installation of new pipe culverts and storm drains between Prescott Lakes Parkway and Yavpe.
- Temporary striping and necessary road widening to accommodate three lanes for each direction.
The successful completion of Phase 1 this week marks the transition into Phase 2, which is set to begin in mid-April.
