The Arizona Department of Transportation advises Sedona area drivers to plan for overnight lane restrictions on State Route 179 beginning Sunday evening July 9, through Friday morning July 14, for final striping of the roadway.

Drivers should allow for extra travel time while the following overnight restrictions are in place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

  • SR 179 will be narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel between Chapel Road and SR 89A (mileposts 310 - 313).
  • Flaggers and a pilot car will guide drivers through the work zone.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.
  • Drivers should be prepared to come to a complete stop and for delays while in the work zone.
  • The restrictions will be lifted each morning.
IMPORTANT NOTE: While the restrictions are in place, access to residential subdivisions with only one point of entry/exit may be impacted for up to 30 minutes while the permanent striping cures long enough to allow motorists to safely drive on it.

Approximate locations of work (subject to change):

  • Sunday, July 9: The “Y” (SR 179/SR 89A roundabout) to Highland Road.
  • Monday, June 10: Highland Road to Oak Creek Mobile Lodge.
  • Tuesday, June 11: Oak Creek Mobile Lodge to Poco Diablo Resort.
  • Wednesday, June 12: Poco Diablo Resort to the Chapel Road roundabout.
  • Thursday, June 13: Additional work as needed.
