The City of Prescott Tourism Office, Experience Prescott, is celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week, May 7-13, 2023.

Experience Prescott is the official destination marketing organization for the city. Experience Prescott works to assist tourism stakeholders in the effort of continuously raising awareness about the destination, ways to explore, shop, dine, play and stay longer. Each year, the Tourism Office creates a marketing and public relations plan to showcase the community year-round.

Local tourism stakeholders include lodging, restaurants, retailers, museums, and attractions.  The Official Visitor Center at the Prescott Chamber works with Experience Prescott to showcase the many wonderful assets that Prescott has to offer.  “Of course, we couldn’t do it without our partners,” said  Ann Steward, Tourism and Economic Initiatives Manager. “We especially want to recognize our hospitality professionals who are the true ambassadors for our destination.”

Tourism for Prescott means leisure travelers from Arizona and around the world who want to experience our amazing outdoors and our historic downtown. In addition, sports tournaments, business meetings, events, educational sessions, retreats and more. All of these activities bring visitors to Prescott and develop tax revenue for the city.

Travel serves as a catalyst for a productive U.S. economy and helps power the success of other industries. The U.S. travel industry generated a $2.6 trillion economic output in 2022 and supported 15 million jobs, fueling communities, small businesses and working families across the country.

Travel spending also generated nearly $160 billion in federal, state and local taxes in 2022—revenue that helped fund critical public services while saving each U.S. household an average of $1,270 in taxes.

Locally, tourism dollars improve the quality of life for our entire community.  Revenue generated by the Transient Occupancy (Bed Tax), provides over $300,000 per year to support local non-profits, community events including the Summer Concert Series downtown, 4th of July Fireworks, World’s Oldest Rodeo, Courthouse Lighting, and more.  Plus, bed tax revenues assist with improvements to recreational facilities like Lower Goldwater Lake, Granite Creek Corridor improvements and more. National Travel & Tourism Week, Arizona Travel & Tourism Week takes place May 7-13.  Visit the U.S. Travel Association’s website for complete travel and tourism updates, statistics, reports, and Travel & Tourism Week details www.ustravel.org/toolkit/national-travel-and-tourism-week.
