Kristy Diaz-Trahan has been appointed as the new Recreation Services Director for the City of Prescott. Diaz-Trahan is a seasoned professional, boasting over 25 years of experience in the field of parks and recreation within Arizona. Her track record is marked by innovation, community service, and collaborative efforts.
Diaz-Trahan is a fourth-generation Arizonan with significant experience in the realm of parks and recreation. Her most recent role was as Recreation Division Manager at Pima County Parks and Recreation. There, she was in charge of a wide range of regional parks, trail systems, community centers, and various recreation programs across the Sonoran Desert. Her leadership facilitated capital improvement projects, forged community partnerships, and promoted inclusive programming for diverse populations in both urban and rural settings in southern Arizona.
Before taking on her role at Pima County, Diaz-Trahan was the Parks and Recreation Director for the Town of Oro Valley. She collaborated closely with the Town Council and community stakeholders to align parks and recreation initiatives with broader municipal objectives concerning health, economic growth, and environmental care.
“I’m honored to join the City of Prescott and excited to serve a community that values its outdoor spaces and active lifestyle,” said Diaz-Trahan. “From growing up exploring Arizona’s wild spaces to leading parks and recreation efforts across the state, my personal passion and professional path have always been aligned with building strong, healthy communities through parks, people, and purpose.”
City Manager Dallin Kimble expressed his enthusiasm, “We are thrilled to welcome Kristy to our leadership team. Her depth of experience in Arizona, her strong commitment to collaboration, and her innovative approach to community recreation make her a fantastic fit for Prescott and the future of our Recreation Services Department.”
