With summer gently fading and autumn on its heels, YCPAC invites you to spend an evening with cherished melodies and blended voices that open a door into the very best of 70’s era pop rock. Share a little “Reminiscing” with The Little River Band, performing Saturday night, September 24 at 7 p.m. at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center. (tickets on sale).
The Eagles’ Glenn Frey knew what he was saying when he called the Little River Band “the best singing band in the world.” Over fifteen albums, more than 30 million in album and CD sales, and soft-rock classics like “Lady,” “Cool Change,” and “Lonesome Loser,” the Little River Band established a reputation for sterling musicianship and beautifully-layered vocal harmonies.
Originating in Melbourne in the mid- ‘70s, The Little River Band began as an All-star Team of Australian rock ‘n rollers looking for success on the international stage. LRB toured the world, opening for bands from Fleetwood Mac to Santana to the Eagles to Boz Skaggs, before their fourth album, Sleeper Catcher, introduced the world to “Lady” and “Reminiscing” in 1979. Throughout the late ‘70’s and into the 1980's, LRB followed that success with multiplatinum albums and runaway hits like “Cool Change,” “Happy Anniversary,” “Lonesome Loser,” “The Night Owls,” “Take It Easy On Me,” and “Help Is on Its Way.”
Today, LRB rolls tirelessly on, performing more than 100 dates in 2021-22. LRB is anchored by vocalist/bassist Wayne Nelson – who joined LRB in 1980. He shares lead vocals with guitarist Colin Whinnery and a multi-talented group of singer/musicians that includes keyboardist Chris Marian; guitarist Bruce Wallace and drummer Ryan Ricks.
