Arizona State Rep. Quang Nguyen (R-Prescott Valley) said the 2025 House Majority Plan released last week includes public safety and support for law enforcement among its priorities.

“As Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee I am glad to see our Majority Plan make public safety a top priority,” Nguyen told Yavapai News. ”By supporting law enforcement, improving emergency response systems, and fostering community engagement we can ensure safe communities where residents can live, work, and thrive.”

Newly-elected House Speaker Steve Montenegro (R-Goodyear) said the Majority Plan will serve as his caucus' guide in the current legislative session.

“Our Majority Plan focuses on preserving the American Dream, promoting public safety, and protecting individual rights and freedoms,” AZ House Speaker Steve Montenegro (R-Goodyear) told Grand Canyon Times. “House Republicans are addressing the priorities that matter most to Arizonans: cutting taxes, making housing more affordable, securing the southern border, and empowering parents to shape their children’s education.”

“With this plan as our guide, Republicans are committed to delivering real results that strengthen families, build safer communities, and ensure Arizona remains a land of opportunity and prosperity for generations to come,” said Montenegro.

The Majority Plan includes expanding resources for law enforcement and addressing challenges posed by cartels operating near the southern border.

The plan also includes measures to lower taxes and reduce government regulations.

Education reforms in the plan include expanding school choice and ensuring accountability in public schools. The plan says the GOP will empower parents to have more influence over their children’s education.

The plan also includes proposals to address homelessness and public safety.

In the 2024 elections, Republicans increased their majority in the Arizona House, holding 31 seats to the Democrats 29. Montenegro was sworn in as the new Speaker on Jan. 13, succeeding outgoing Speaker Ben Toma (R-Glendale).

Born in South Vietnam in 1962, Nguyen fled the country at age 12 following the fall of Saigon. He earned a bachelor's degree in industrial arts from California State University, Long Beach. Nguyen founded Caddis Advertising, LLC, in 2006 and has worked as a marketing and landscape designer for ZebraScapes Landscaping & Services since 2019.

Nguyen was first elected to the Arizona House of Representatives for District 1 in the general election on November 3, 2020, and assumed office on January 11, 2021. He was re-elected in 2022 and 2024.

Nguyen resides in Prescott Valley, Arizona, with his wife, Mai, a registered nurse. They have two children: a son working in the private sector and a daughter serving in the United States Navy.
