For the past two years, a representative has been serving Gila County in the U.S. House of Representatives, working on legislation to benefit Arizona's 2nd Congressional District. The representative, a former Navy SEAL, highlights issues facing veterans transitioning to civilian life and advocates for prioritizing their needs over spending on illegal immigrants and overseas conflicts.

A bill was introduced to transfer federal land to Gila County for a veterans center in Young, Arizona. This initiative would provide family housing and recreational facilities without federal funding. The representative thanked Gila County Supervisor Woody Cline for his leadership on this project, noting that the bill passed out of the House.

With national debt approaching $36 trillion, there is a focus on reducing federal spending. The representative voted against various funding bills and supported legislation like the TRUST in Congress Act to ban stock trading by Members of Congress.

Efforts were made to address issues at the southern border with bipartisan support from Rep. Lou Correa for the Subterranean Border Defense Act, targeting illicit cross-border tunnels. This legislation passed out of the U.S. House.

Concerns about veterans' rights under the Biden-Harris Administration led to the introduction of bills like the Veterans 2nd Amendment Restoration Act of 2024 and the Safeguarding Veterans 2nd Amendment Rights Act of 2024. These aim to restore constitutional rights and prevent unjust disarmament.

To tackle wildfires, support was given to the bipartisan Fix Our Forests Act, which aims to modernize forest management practices. A partnership with Rep. Mike Levin resulted in introducing the Hire Veterans Act to improve forest management and reduce veteran unemployment through a five-year pilot program.

The Veteran Improvement Commercial Driver License Act of 2024 was advanced with bipartisan support to remove obstacles preventing new trucking school facilities from receiving GI benefits for two years.

Work with Gila County leaders continues to secure federal grants for community projects such as rebuilding roads and supporting fire districts.

Expressing gratitude towards constituents, efforts continue to address inflation, border security, global instability, and crime while striving for systemic reform.
