The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has issued a travel alert regarding construction delays in Oak Creek Canyon for the week of July 22. Drivers should anticipate longer delays navigating through the switchbacks area due to drainage maintenance.

Starting Monday, July 22, the current single-lane restriction between mileposts 388 and 389 will extend south of the Pumphouse Wash Bridge to facilitate the maintenance work. This activity is separate from the ongoing sediment control project that began in June.

Drivers traveling between Sedona and Flagstaff should plan for additional travel time because of the increased length between temporary traffic signals.

The drainage system maintenance is expected to conclude by Friday afternoon, July 26. After completion, the single-lane restriction will revert north of the bridge to its original extent.

Schedules may change based on weather or other unforeseen factors. For more information, contact ADOT at 855-712-8530 or visit azdot.gov/contact and select Projects from the drop-down menu. Real-time highway conditions can be accessed at www.az511.gov or by downloading the AZ511 app or calling 511.
