The city of Sedona has appointed Andrew Grossmann as the new tourism manager following a nationwide search. Effective July 1, 2024, Grossmann will oversee the recently established Tourism Program, which was created in 2023 when Sedona was designated as the official Destination Management Organization (DMO).
Grossmann brings over a decade of experience in the professional tourism industry. His most recent role was director of destination development for the Colorado Tourism Office, where he collaborated with destinations such as Aspen, Steamboat Springs, and Durango. He also has previous experience with Travel Oregon and Sustainable Travel International.
“Working directly with more than 50 destinations across Colorado and Oregon has given me exposure to so many of the challenges that locations like Sedona are dealing with. I’m looking forward to taking all the lessons learned and bringing them into this new setting,” said Grossmann.
Lauren Browne, Communications Director for Sedona, expressed confidence in Grossmann’s appointment: “Andrew’s experience with helping communities we regularly compare ourselves to, in addition to his deep understanding of the importance of working closely with the Arizona Office of Tourism, makes him the perfect fit to take the Tourism Program to the next level. I can’t wait to see how he grows and develops this program.”
In its first year, Sedona's Tourism Program achieved several milestones including establishing a Tourism Advisory Board comprising residents and business representatives, executing two destination marketing campaigns, creating a strategic plan, initiating a branding process, and now hiring a tourism manager.
