The city of Sedona has announced an extension for nominations for the seventh Mayor’s Arts Awards, honoring individuals, organizations, and businesses that have significantly contributed to the arts in Sedona. The new deadline for nominations is Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
According to Arts and Culture Specialist Nancy Lattanzi, "The Mayor’s Arts Awards is one of the most gratifying programs I work on and I am truly looking forward to this signature city event. It is a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions in the arts. The ceremony promises to be an engaging evening and complimentary tickets go fast.”
The awards recognize various categories including Individual, Organization/Business, Lifetime Achievement, and Education, all aimed at acknowledging those who have positively impacted the arts scene in Sedona. Self-nomination is not allowed, and those interested in submitting nominations can visit the city's website or contact Lattanzi directly for more information.
A panel of seven established artists will assess the nominations based on criteria such as the impact of the artist’s contributions on the community and the improvement of arts accessibility. The selected recipients will be honored at the Mayor’s Arts Awards ceremony at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre, with the event date to be announced based on response.
Furthermore, new congratulatory awards for the winners are currently being crafted by ceramic artist Russell DeHaven. The awards will feature his symbolic piece, The Sedona Ratio, which represents the convergence of nature, science, and spirituality.
