SEDONA, Ariz. – In coordination with the city’s newly created Evacuation and Re-entry Plan, the city and its partners announce the creation of evacuation zones within the Sedona city limits. Twelve zones group each location in the city into easily recognizable areas to aid in messaging and communication during emergencies.

The zones build upon the existing “Ready, Set, Go!” program and were developed with area partners including the Sedona Fire Department, Sedona Police Department and Yavapai and Coconino Counties.

Residents were recently mailed a magnet to write down what their zone is, so that it’s easy to remember in an emergency. Residents should find their assigned zone by visiting www.sedonaaz.gov/evacuation and clicking on the map. Residents are also encouraged to identify the zone of their workplaces and loved ones’ schools and workplaces.

“The city of Sedona proactively created the Evacuation and Re-entry Plan and we ask that residents know your zone so that if and when we have an evacuation, we are set up well for a safe and efficient evacuation of neighborhoods,” said Sedona Chief of Police Stephanie Foley.

The public is also invited to the first of two public meetings to talk in person with staff about their zone and receive more details about emergency operations. The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall at 102 Roadrunner Dr. The second meeting will be held in the Fall.

In addition to identifying the zone of their home, workplace, and schools and workplaces of their loved ones, residents are also encouraged to sign up to receive emergency notifications by visiting www.sedonaaz.gov/alerts
