University of Arizona Cooperative Extension of Yavapai County wishes to announce the retirement of Jeff Schalau

The University of Arizona Yavapai County Cooperative Extension issued the following announcement on July 27.

After 23 years of dedicated service, The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension of Yavapai County wishes to announce the retirement of Jeff Schalau, County Director and Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent. His last day of service is July 30th. Since 1998, Mr. Schalau has provided leadership and educational programs as well as authored a weekly newspaper column called the Backyard Gardener. Throughout his career, he served the community by providing agricultural and horticulture workshops including Master Gardener, fruit tree pruning, well water, and beginning farmers workshops; and collaborated with numerous agencies such as the Prescott National Forest, Yavapai County Facilities, and Prescott Area Wildland Urban Interface Commission (PAWUIC) to preserve and care for the various issues affecting Yavapai County.

Over the years, Mr. Schalau has been recognized by the Association of Natural Resource, National Association of County Agricultural Agents, Yavapai County Farm Bureau, and the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension for exceptional leadership and achievements. As he embarks on retirement, we wish him the best and sincerely thank him for his contribution to our organization.
