The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has launched a holiday food drive to support residents facing food insecurity. The initiative, which will continue through the end of 2025, invites community members to donate non-perishable food items at four designated locations. Donations can be made Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays on November 27-28 and December 25.
Collection sites include the main office lobby at 255 E Gurley St in Prescott, as well as substation lobbies at 4155 W Outer Loop Rd (at Williamson Valley Rd), 12606 Main St in Mayer (old red brick schoolhouse building), and 2830 N Commonwealth Dr in Camp Verde near the Criminal Justice facility.
All collected food will be delivered to local area food banks for distribution. The sheriff’s office also encourages direct donations to area food banks. “We encourage those who need help this holiday season to visit one of these food distribution sites,” the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office stated.
Residents seeking assistance can access several local organizations offering regular food distribution, including Prescott Community Cupboard, Prescott Salvation Army, Prescott Valley Food Bank, Yavapai Food Bank, Chino Valley Food Bank, Foothills Food Bank in Black Canyon City, Sedona Community Food Bank, Project Rising Hope in Cottonwood, Yarnell Food Bank, Haven United Methodist Church Food Pantry in Jerome, and the Yavapai-Apache Nation Food Bank for tribal members.
Mobile distribution is also available through Community Cupboard Mobile Food Banks at various locations throughout the week across Chino Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, Mayer (Poland Junction), Cordes Lakes, and Wilhoit.
