On January 8, 2026, deputies from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office responded to several weather-related incidents across the county. The events included cars and semi-trucks sliding off roads, as well as injury accidents. These incidents led to the closure of Interstate 40 for several hours and also disrupted traffic on Interstate 17.

The Sheriff’s Office reminded drivers that during adverse weather conditions and when major highways such as Interstate 40 are closed, motorists should avoid using backroads like Drake Road near Paulden. In Bagdad, unexpected snowfall caused an injury accident that required a response from deputies. There were also multiple slide-offs reported on Iron Springs Road, along with a crash in which a car slid 20 feet off the road near Sedona.
