Nearly three dozen deputies from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) participated in two “Shop with a Cop” events held on December 13. The events were sponsored by Prescott Police Department and Cottonwood Police Department.

In Prescott, about two dozen YCSO deputies joined children for shopping after a 13-mile procession with lights and sirens from Prescott Valley to a Walmart location. Deputy Do Right, identified as a favorite among children, took part in the activities. In Cottonwood, another dozen deputies attended the event there.

Santa Claus arrived at both locations by helicopter due to the unavailability of his reindeer.

A tribute was included during the Prescott event to honor fallen YCSO Sergeant Rick “R-Lo” Lopez and Mark McClain of Prescott, a longtime law enforcement veteran who died in September. According to the statement, “Both were huge supporters of Shop with a Cop.”

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office stated its intention to participate again next year. “YCSO looks forward to doing it again in 2026. Have a safe and happy holiday season!”
