Rep. Eli Crane announced on Mar. 18 that the deadline for high school students in Arizona’s 2nd District to submit entries for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition is Friday, April 3.
The annual competition, sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives, aims to recognize and encourage artistic talent among young people across the country. The first place winner will be flown to Washington, D.C., to attend an awards banquet and will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year. Several tuition-based scholarships will also be awarded to outstanding students.
An awards ceremony is scheduled at the Phippen Museum in Prescott on Saturday, April 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., where winners and scholarship recipients will be announced. All submitted entries will be available for public viewing at the museum prior to the event.
Crane said, “The Congressional Art Competition is an amazing opportunity to showcase the immense artistic talent in AZ-02. While I can’t say I envy the tough decisions our professional judges must make every year, it’s clear that our students have tremendous skill and vision.” He added his thanks to those involved with organizing the event: “Thank you to the Phippen Museum staff, teachers, judges, and everyone else who makes this special event possible. I encourage all interested students to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Crane has represented Arizona’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Tom O’Halleran in 2023 according to official records. He was born in Tucson in 1980 and currently lives in Oro Valley according to biographical information.
For more details about guidelines and submission requirements for the competition, interested students are encouraged to contact Crane’s district office or visit his website.
