This week, the House of Representatives approved the bipartisan Fix Our Forests Act. The bill, backed by Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ), aims to enhance the health and resilience of forests across the United States.

The legislation received support from all House Republicans and 64 House Democrats. It addresses more than 117 million acres of overgrown forests in the country that are susceptible to fires and require active management. The bill seeks to expedite approvals for vegetation management, which would improve safety for communities in rural Arizona.

In the previous Congress, this legislation passed in the House of Representatives but did not receive a vote in the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Rep. Crane had previously supported the bipartisan Fire Grants and Safety Act, which allocated funds for firefighter training, equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, and general emergency response needs.

The Fix Our Forests Act includes measures designed to prepare for fire season effectively.
