SEDONA, Ariz. -- The city of Sedona has announced its search for a new member to join the Historic Preservation Commission. The commission, as described by the city, is a voluntary body comprised of five citizens appointed by the City Council. Its primary objective is to uphold and safeguard Sedona’s historical character and essence.

In alignment with the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office, the Sedona Historic Preservation Commission plays a crucial role in reviewing and approving restoration and enhancements to designated historical landmark homes and properties. This task is part of a broader initiative at both the state and national levels to ensure the preservation of significant historical sites, with a particular focus on Sedona's pioneer heritage.

Prospective applicants are required to possess expertise or knowledge in fields such as history, architectural history, architecture, historic interiors, planning archaeology, real estate, or historic preservation law. The term of service for this volunteer position spans three years, commencing upon appointment by the City Council and concluding three years thereafter or upon the appointment of a successor.

Individuals interested in applying for this position can obtain application forms from the City Clerk’s Office at 102 Roadrunner Dr. or access the PDF application online. The city will continue to accept applications until the vacant seat is filled.
