Apply now for the Sedona Police Department Community Police Academy

The Sedona Police Department is inviting residents and members of the business community to apply for the 2024 Community Police Academy. The program aims to provide participants with a firsthand engagement with the department and develop a better understanding of its role within the community. According to the announcement, participants will also have the opportunity to foster a collaborative relationship with residents.

As stated by the Sedona Police Department, "The police personnel are afforded direct interaction with community members to better understand what they value and gain perspective of community goals."

The eight-week program is scheduled to begin on May 7, 2024, and will be held every Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until approximately 9 p.m. at The Hub, located at 525-B Posse Ground Drive. The curriculum will cover a wide range of topics including patrol procedures, crime scene investigations, traffic control, firearms, use of force, reporting and investigating, as well as specialty assignments like K-9, Narcotics Detective, and Police communication.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply before April 23, 2024, as seats are limited to 15 participants. Successful applicants will be notified by April 29, 2024. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and can obtain an application at www.sedonaaz.gov/policeacademy, at the Sedona Police Department's lobby, or by emailing Sgt.
