Arizona State Rep. Selina Bliss celebrated the passing of a state bill that protects minors in the state from sex trafficking and increases the punishment for those convicted of the crime.
“Today I made it clear that Arizona’s children are not for sale, and the State House backed me up by passing SCR1021/HCR2042,” Bliss said in a post on X. “I don’t care what political party you are from, buying or selling a child for sex is NOT ok!!”
HCR2042 states that “in order to protect the children of Arizona, an adult who is convicted of sex trafficking of a minor child shall be sentenced to natural life imprisonment and is not eligible for any form of release.”
The bill was officially passed by both the Arizona State House of Representatives and State Senate on March 18. This item will be put on the ballot of the next general election in the state.
Bliss was born in South Dakota. She earned her bachelor's and master’s degrees from Arizona State University, and her doctorate from Capella University. Before being elected, Bliss worked in healthcare as both a nurse and a nurse educator.
Bliss represents Arizona as State Representative of District 1. She is running for Arizona State Representative (District 1) in the state's Nov. 5, 2024 general election.
