Earlier today, the City of Prescott revealed the results of the 2023 Community Wide Survey conducted by national polling firm Polco. The survey, which included input from 3,000 randomly selected citizens as well as the general public, provided valuable insights into the opinions and priorities of residents.
Polco representatives presented a comprehensive overview of the survey findings to the Prescott City Council during a study session on January 23. The 120-page report highlighted three key findings that emerged from the survey.
Firstly, the survey revealed that residents of Prescott highly value the natural environment. This finding underscores the importance of preserving and protecting the city's natural resources. As one resident stated, "Prescott's natural beauty is one of its greatest assets, and it's essential that we prioritize its conservation."
Secondly, the survey indicated that residents feel safe in Prescott and expressed support for additional investment in public safety. Residents recognize the efforts of local law enforcement and believe that continued investment in public safety will help maintain the city's reputation as a safe place to live. As another resident mentioned, "I feel secure knowing that our city prioritizes public safety. It gives me peace of mind."
Lastly, the survey highlighted that there are opportunities for improvement in certain aspects of mobility within the city. Respondents expressed a desire for enhanced transportation options and infrastructure. This finding suggests that investing in transportation initiatives could further improve the quality of life for residents. As one participant emphasized, "Improving mobility in Prescott is crucial for promoting accessibility and convenience for all residents."
The Community Wide Survey, known as the NCS, has been developed and refined over the past 20 years. It serves as a benchmark for resident opinion and has been used in over 350 jurisdictions across 46 states.
