SEDONA, Ariz. - The city of Sedona is pleased to announce the appointment of Anette Spickard as the new city manager. Spickard, who previously served as the City Manager of McCall, Idaho, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in dealing with similar challenges faced by Sedona.
With over 25 years of dedicated public service, Spickard has held notable positions such as the Community Development and Public Works Director for a city of 60,000 people in Springfield, Oregon, and as a former elected County Assessor in Lane County, Oregon. She holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Loyola Marymount University.
Mayor Scott Jablow expressed his enthusiasm for Spickard's appointment, stating, "Anette is a proven leader with an extensive background of public service and experience in an organization with many similarities to Sedona. I look forward to working with her."
The recruitment and selection process spanned over six months and involved interviews with community members, staff members, and the City Council. A public open house was also held to allow the public to meet and greet Spickard. From the 152 potential candidates who were thoroughly evaluated, Spickard emerged as the clear choice.
"Sedona is a special place. I am excited to join the Sedona leadership team and to work with the community on our opportunities and challenges," said Spickard.
Spickard's experience in dealing with workforce housing challenges, managing a tourism economy, and facilitating multi-agency collaboration to address regional issues aligns well with the needs of Sedona. As a renowned tourist and outdoor recreation destination, Sedona faces unique challenges in balancing resident quality of life with the demands of tourism.
With her proven leadership and dedication to public service, Anette Spickard is poised to guide Sedona through its opportunities and challenges as the new city manager. The city eagerly awaits her arrival on April 8, 2024.
