U.S. Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ), voiced criticism of President Biden's economic management, commonly referred to as Bidenomics. Crane believes that the policies enacted by the Biden administration have severely impacted American working families.
"Biden’s reckless spending and mismanagement of our economy are kneecapping working American families.", said Eli Crane.
The underpinnings of Crane's criticism can be understood through recent reports on the state of the U.S economy. Recent reports on Bidenomics that were just released before Thanksgiving Day indicate that while prices have decreased, they remain significantly higher than in previous years. Thanksgiving dinner this year was almost 15% more expensive than in 2021 and 25% pricier than in 2019, although it is 4% cheaper than last year. Bidenomics is currently facing a disapproval rating of 59%, according to Yahoo News.
Beyond the cost of holiday dinners, larger economic indicators paint a troubling picture. Data from the U.S. Department of Labor reveals that the unemployment rate has reached its highest point since February 2022, standing at 3.8%. Meanwhile, inflation has surged by nearly 17% since President Biden assumed office. Grocery prices have seen a 20% increase, energy prices have surged by 38%, gas prices are on the rise, and the housing market is facing challenges as well, according to Fox Business.
Public sentiment mirrors these concerning economic trends. A Nov. poll from Fox News disclosed that 89% of Americans remain concerned about inflation. Seventy-eight percent of voters express a negative opinion of the economy, with 47% describing it being in "poor" condition. Additionally, 59% disapprove of President Biden's overall job performance. Biden's approval rating has also reached new lows across various demographics, including men, individuals under age 45, Hispanic voters, and college graduates, according to Fox News.
Looking at specific regions, such as Arizona, offers a microcosm of the national sentiment. Arizonans, aligning with the broader sentiment in the United States, hold a negative view of both the U.S. economy and the Biden Administration. In a recent survey by North Star Research polling 600 likely voters in Arizona, results show that 77% believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. Specifically, 62% of independent Arizona voters disapprove of the Biden administration's economic policy, while 92% of Republicans express disapproval, and 21% of Democrats share a similar sentiment. 78% believe the "American Dream" is out of reach for most Arizona citizens. The survey also revealed that the majority of Arizonans attribute the increase in gas prices and housing costs in the state to Biden, according to North Star Research poll results, available on the League of American Workers' website.
