United States Rep. Eli Crane, who represents Arizona's 2nd district, voiced his criticism of President Joe Biden for the ongoing situation at the Arizona border, where thousands are crossing at the Tohono O'odham Reservation.

"AZ's tribal communities deserve safety and security in their homeland. Biden's open border exposes us all to unnecessary threats and chaos.", said Eli Crane.

The Tohono O'Odham Nation, Arizona's second-largest reservation, is located approximately 90 miles southwest of Tucson. It houses the smallest port of entry in Arizona, where Border Patrol has apprehended 3,000 people since last Friday. With an increasing number of migrants, Border Patrol is conducting multiple trips daily. Migrants are improvising shelters from available materials to protect themselves from the sun, according to KVOA.

Lawmakers express mounting concerns about various critical issues as a result of the ongoing border situation. Key issues include human and drug smuggling and the growing influence of cartels in the region. In Southern Arizona, drug trafficking particularly involving Fentanyl—a synthetic opioid which is 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine—has raised alarm. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) employs X-ray scanning technology, drug-sniffing dogs, and detectives to detect and confiscate these drugs, reported ABC.

"The invasion is getting worse," said Ben Bergquam, host of “Law & Border “ on platform X."It all appears to be coordinated in an effort to push the crossings to areas where they think the cameras can’t get to prevent the American from being able to see it and to distract from the drugs and people that don’t want to get caught crossing just a few hundred feet away."

Arizona lawmakers have also responded with additional concerns following reports of a potentially significant number of migrants heading towards the border—potentially numbering in thousands. The group may originate from Mexico and could consist of up to 5,000 migrants from countries including Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, among others, according to Reuters.

"7,000+ illegal aliens have formed a caravan in Mexico and are heading to our southern border right now," said Rep. Andy Biggs on platform X. "It's time for the Biden Administration to stop playing games. Build our wall. Enforce our laws. Secure our border."
