Winter Storm Update January 1st, 2023

Street Maintenance continues to monitor the approaching series of winter storms forecast to impact the area for the next several days.

At this time the National Weather Service is calling for as little as a half inch of snowfall from late Sunday night through early Monday morning in the downtown area and slightly higher amounts in the surrounding higher elevations of town.

That said there are a couple of things to be mindful of. The Weather Service is warning of some minor local stream flooding, so some low water stream crossings may be closed. Please remember to NEVER cross a flooded creek or wash when it is flowing water, whether it has been barricaded or not, “turn-around-don’t-drowned” Additionally, temperatures are forecast to dip into the high 20’s by early Monday morning, making some area roadways icy and slick. As such we urge using extra caution during your morning commute.

Street Maintenance has plow crews and fully dressed equipment on stand-by to respond in full force to clear streets and treat for icy conditions as needed. As always we would like to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during these approaching storm systems.

Have a very Happy and Safe New Year!!!

Brian Scott, Street Maintenance Superintendent.
