60-day Formal Comment Period Begins on County Comprehensive Plan

On Friday September 16, 2022 Yavapai County released the latest draft of the Yavapai County 2032 Comprehensive Plan, the county’s comprehensive plan that acts as the roadmap for responsible growth and development in the County for the next 10 years! The latest version is being sent to surrounding contiguous counties, all county municipalities and several state and federal agencies for a state-mandated 60-day comment period.

The public is encouraged to comment on the latest version of the plan. Members of the public can view the Comprehensive Plan Document and submit comments here: Public Comment or directly from the Comp Plan Webpage or email your comments to planning@yavapaiaz.gov. A hard copy of the draft will also be available at each County office by the end of the week. Yavapai County kicked-off the Comprehensive Plan Update process on November 19, 2020. Yavapai County Development Services Director Jeremy Dye, who along with other County Planners and Departments are heading up this countywide effort, along with multiple consulting planning firms, said this draft plan is much more than just land use planning; it also takes into consideration all of the issues associated with growth and prosperity, including water, energy and natural resource conservation, infrastructure investments, economic development strategies and quality of life issues.

After the 60-day review period expires November 30th 2022, County staff will review the comments, make amendments to the draft, and submit it for recommendation to the Planning and Zoning Commission in November. From there it goes to the Board of Supervisors in December for their consideration and adoption.
