YCSO has been busy this week, cutting into the efficacy of lawbreakers’ activities, all but guaranteeing the criminals receive negative performance reviews from their employers. First 11 lbs of fentanyl was seized from drug smugglers, assuring that the driver’s project deliverables were not met. Next, bank robbers were arrested after they stole a truck and almost ran over a deputy, cauing their employers to mark them low on “interpersonal skills” and “clear judgment abilities”. Then two days ago, deputies arrested a man for human smuggling and money laundering after a traffic stop outside of Ashfork on I-40 (see details below), surely causing their productivity rate to spike downward. Guess none of them can use YCSO as an employment reference…
YCSO ARRESTS MAN FOR HUMAN SMUGGLING AND MONEY LAUNDERING
On Wednesday March 30th at 9:30 am, a Yavapai County Sheriff’s K9 Unit stopped a car for two civil traffic violations along I-40 outside of Ash Fork. During the stop, the YCSO deputy became suspicious of the way the people in the car were acting and asked for consent to search the car.
They agreed, and items suggesting criminal activity were found in a small duffle bag. The deputy questioned the driver, who admitted to being employed by a human smuggling ring and was on his way from California to Texas to meet the employers.
The driver, Jose Gallardo Ortiz, 39 from Mesquite Texas, was arrested for conspiracy to commit human smuggling and money laundering and is currently confined in the Yavapai County jail.
“The YCSO K9 units have had tremendous success this week in stopping dangerous drugs and criminals from making their way to other communities through ours” said Sheriff David Rhodes. “By using their knowledge and training, our deputies are keeping not only our residents safe, but also those in the communities where these offenders were headed.”
