Yavapai County issued the following announcement on Mar. 8.

As this past February came to a close, construction on the new Yavapai County Justice Center had achieved over 120,000 Man-hours with “No Lost Time Injuries or Incidents.” Safety is always of first concern on any construction job but when your project is scheduled to span multiple years, and require hundreds of thousands of man hours, safety is more than a concern, it is of paramount importance. 

The Yavapai County Facilities Director and Assistant Director have been working closely with Kitchell, the Owners Representative, to coordinate all of the contractors including Hensel Phelps the main contractor for the Justice Center, currently being built on Prescott Lakes Parkway. Plans may have been in the works to construct a new justice center next to the old landfill since the early 1990s, but construction began in earnest in August of 2020. Since then, over 365 people have worked on site with nearly 122,000 man-hours going into the clearing and grading, digging utilities, and now constructing of walls without one major loss of time or incident. Yavapai County Board of Supervisors Chair Mary Mallory said, “Their obvious dedication to safety, is a testament to the quality of work and service the County is getting from Hensel Phelps, Kitchell, and all of the other contractors on site. Their commitment to producing a quality product in a safe environment, that will last for many years, is greatly appreciated.”
