City of Prescott issued the following announcement on Sept. 10.
Prescott Police Chief Amy Bonney has named Lt. Jon Brambila to the position of Deputy Chief, effective September 19, 2021. Brambila was selected out of a competitive internal process.
“Lt. Brambila is a proven law enforcement professional who knows our community inside and out,” said Chief Amy Bonney. “He strives for excellence in all he does and I know his new assignment as Deputy Chief will be no different. Together, we will continue to work diligently to support the members of the Prescott Police Department and the community.”
Deputy Chief Jon Brambila has 22 years of progressive law enforcement experience to include the Patrol Bureau, Special Operations Bureau, Support Bureau, Public Information Officer and the Prescott Regional Communications Center. As Lieutenant he proudly served as the SWAT Commander, with over fifteen years of tactical experience, and as the Academy Commander for the Northern Arizona Regional Training Academy. During his career, Deputy Chief Brambila was awarded Officer of the Year, Top Shooter of the Year and earned several other Department and law enforcement awards.
Deputy Chief Brambila serves as the Vice President for the Arizona Tactical Officers Association, and is a member of the FBI National Academy Associates, Arizona Chapter. He is a member of the Prescott High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee. He is a volunteer coach for many different youth athletic programs and has been involved in youth athletics for over 20 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Oklahoma and is a graduate of the 270th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

I was born and raised in Prescott and now I am proud to be responsible for the protection and safety of our community. I believe in servant leadership and in working collaboratively with our public safety and community partners to maintain our safety and way of life here in Prescott.” Prescott Police Department has 75 sworn officers and 15 volunteer Citizens on Patrol. In July, 2021, Prescott Police Department received State Accreditation from the Arizona Chiefs of Police and the Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program.
