The positive Covid-19 test results have continued to climb over the past two weeks

Covid breaking news

Yavapai County issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.

The positive Covid-19 test results have continued to climb over the past two weeks, and I would like to encourage everyone to get the vaccination now while it is available and free.  We know that most people in our local hospitals with Covid are not vaccinated and the effects of having a severe case can be long lasting and detrimental to your health.  As of last Friday, over 92% of the positive cases were from people who had not received the vaccination. If you still have questions and concerns about the vaccine, talk to your medical provider and get the facts.

Because of the continued increase in covid cases I decided it was necessary to close County buildings to the public.  We are still here, and our services are still available, you just need to call and make an appointment or call once you get here and someone will come down and help you.  The phone numbers for each department are posted on the front doors and can also be found on our website.  These closures do not apply to the Justice or Superior Courts.

There are still many locations to get the vaccine and if you can’t make it to them, Spectrum will come to you.  You can find more information about all the ways to get the vaccine by visiting our new website, YavapaiAZ.GOV and click on the Covid banner.

If you have driven down Prescott Lakes Parkway recently you will have noticed the construction on our new Justice Center continuing almost every day.  This week there was a crane delivered and the vertical steel started going up.  The crew on site will be working on the steel for several weeks while footings and cement continue to be poured on other sections of the build.  We are still expecting to be completed some time in August of 2022.  If you are interested in working for the Sheriff, you can apply for their available positions by going to Y C S O jobs.com.

On Monday August 2nd the Yavapai County Budget was approved by a unanimous vote of the Board.  If you would like to see the 21-22 budget in detail you can get more information by going to the county website YavapaiAZ.gov and click on the “Interactive Budget” link on the right-hand side of the webpage.

American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds have come to Yavapai County and the Board of Supervisors have decided to focus these funds toward improving Water and Sewer infrastructure, as well as improving Broadband availability, and making sure everyone that wants a Covid test or vaccine can continue to get one at no cost.  We will be providing more information on the distribution of these funds in the coming weeks.
