Each tenant at Prescott Gateway Mall recently received a letter that electrical power would be shut off due to non-payment, according to Prescott News.

“We are reaching out to every Gateway Mall business to alert you that power to the mall is scheduled for shut-off on March 9, 2020, due to non-payment,” read a letter by APS account manager, Becky Rudd.

Rudd said that despite setting up numerous payment schemes with property owners and the management company, minimal responses and payments were given since January 2020. Mike Kohan, the owner of Kohan Retail Investment Group, stated that he did not want the image of the mall to go down given the fact that they were in talks with APS over getting their bills paid.

However, according to Prescott News, as of March 4, no payments have been made.

Twentry-nine properties owned by Kohan and over 15 malls operated by Kohan Retail have faced similar issues in the past regarding non-payment of utilities and poor maintenance of properties. All properties had to be closed down untimely due to the situation.
