State Representative Selina Bliss has declared January 13 as Arizona Human Trafficking Awareness Day, aligning with National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Bliss, who serves as Chairman of the House Health and Human Services Committee, introduced a legislative proclamation on the Arizona House floor to highlight efforts against human trafficking in the state.
“Human trafficking thrives in silence and shadows,” said Representative Bliss. “Awareness saves lives. Arizona must remain firm in confronting traffickers, supporting survivors, and holding criminals accountable for exploiting the vulnerable.”
The proclamation emphasizes that human trafficking is a modern form of slavery affecting communities across Arizona. It underscores the importance of public awareness in identifying victims and aiding law enforcement and victim advocates in their fight against exploitation.
Bliss, a Republican elected to represent Legislative District 1 in Yavapai County in 2023, has been active in advancing legislation to protect victims and prevent trafficking. She encourages Arizonans to educate themselves about trafficking signs and support prevention efforts.
