Rep. Eli Crane, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 2nd district, posted a series of tweets on January 1, 2026, expressing concerns about government officials from Somalia and calling for a ban on Sharia law.

In his first tweet at 16:30 UTC, Crane questioned the involvement of Somali officials in an unspecified issue: “Unreal. How many government officials from Somalia are in on this?”

Later that day at 17:45 UTC, he wrote: “Defend the West. Ban Sharia.”

At 18:18 UTC, Crane commented further with another post: “And folks (rightfully) thought USAID was bad…”

Eli Crane has served as the representative for Arizona’s 2nd District since replacing Tom O’Halleran in 2023. Born in Tucson in 1980, Crane currently resides in Oro Valley.
