Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) has been appointed as Chairman of the Congressional Justice for Warriors Caucus (CJWC) in the 119th Congress. The caucus focuses on supporting service members and veterans who have faced wrongful accusations or incarceration.
The CJWC, established in 2019, has played a role in securing clemency, parole, and pardons for military personnel. It also works to improve outcomes for veterans regarding medical care, corrections to service records, titling issues, VA claims, and accountability from both the Department of War and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The caucus reviews criminal convictions, allegations of misconduct, military investigations, and nonjudicial punishments that impact U.S. service members, veterans, and private contractors. Its efforts extend to veteran care cases involving reprisal, correcting military records, and addressing agency noncompliance with Congressional mandates affecting veterans.
A key part of the CJWC’s mission is to advocate for reforms to military law—including updates to the Uniform Code of Military Justice and Rules for Courts-Martial—to ensure fair treatment and due process protections for those serving in the armed forces. These initiatives are intended to protect against unlawful command influence, predatory prosecutions, misapplication of laws, and other forms of injustice within the military system.
“I’m honored to serve as Chairman of the Congressional Justice for Warriors Caucus, which does vital work on behalf of our military community,” said Rep. Crane. “I encourage any veteran who believes they’ve been wrongfully persecuted to reach out. We’re here to help.”
Eli Crane has represented Arizona’s 2nd congressional district since 2023 after succeeding Tom O’Halleran. He was born in Tucson in 1980 and currently resides in Oro Valley.
