Rep. Eli Crane, U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 2nd district since 2023, announced on January 6, 2026, his intention to introduce a bill awarding Nick Shirley the Congressional Gold Medal.
In a series of posts on his official account, Crane stated: “In honor of his exemplary work, I’m proud to introduce this bill to award @nickshirleyy the Congressional Gold Medal.” (January 6, 2026). He further commented on the broader significance of Shirley’s actions: “His efforts to shed light on this historic scandal have resulted in seismic shifts to our political landscape virtually overnight.” (January 6, 2026).

Eli Crane was born in Tucson, Arizona in 1980 and currently resides in Oro Valley. He succeeded Tom O’Halleran as representative for Arizona’s 2nd district in Congress beginning in 2023.
