Rep. Eli Crane, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 2nd district since 2023, posted several statements on March 9, 2026, criticizing Senate Democrats for the ongoing shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

In a post published at 20:37 UTC, Crane wrote, “He’s right. Schumer should immediately end his shutdown of DHS.” Later that evening at 23:10 UTC, he continued his criticism by stating, “Yet Senate Democrats refuse to reopen the Department of Homeland Security… All to appease their radical base.” At 23:18 UTC on the same day, Crane also commented simply, “Good.”

Crane’s comments refer to an ongoing dispute in Congress over funding for DHS. The remarks specifically call out Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats for what Crane characterizes as obstruction.

Eli Crane was born in Tucson, Arizona in 1980 and currently resides in Oro Valley. He replaced Tom O’Halleran as representative of Arizona’s 2nd district following the 2022 election cycle.
