Rep. Eli Crane, who represents Arizona’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on his social media account expressing concerns about recent legislative actions and broader issues related to artificial intelligence and Senate procedures.
On April 16, 2026, Crane reacted to an unspecified House decision by stating, “GOOD. It’s embarrassing that it passed the House. What are we doing?” On the same day, he elaborated on his apprehensions regarding artificial intelligence and national security: “As a former service member, I recognize the risks of losing an AI arms race to the CCP. At the same time, we may be engineering our own destruction without realizing it. Mass layoffs and energy demands only scratch the surface of the potential consequences.”
Later that evening, on April 17, 2026 (UTC), Crane called for significant procedural change in the Senate with a brief statement: “Nuke the filibuster.”
Crane has served as a U.S. Representative since replacing Tom O’Halleran in 2023 and is currently serving Arizona’s 2nd district. He was born in Tucson in 1980 and resides in Oro Valley.
