Rep. Eli Crane, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 2nd district since 2023, used his social media account on October 2, 2025, to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and related issues in Congress.
In a post made at 12:32 p.m. UTC, Crane wrote, “I bet the shutdown would end in seconds if we told members of congress that they can’t trade stocks during a shutdown. Note: should never be allowed.”
Later that day, at 1:10 p.m. UTC, he addressed the situation in the Senate by stating, “Even senate democrats are getting tired of the Schumer shutdown. Only five more need to defy him for the government to reopen.”
At 3:01 p.m. UTC, Crane commented on healthcare policy debates by posting, “Democrats keep insisting that their preferred government plans don’t provide coverage for illegal aliens. The reason they lie so much is because they don’t respect the American people and think that you have a short-term memory.”
Crane has represented Arizona’s 2nd district since replacing Tom O’Halleran in 2023 and resides in Oro Valley after being born in Tucson in 1980.
