U.S. Representative Eli Crane, who serves Arizona’s 2nd district in Congress, used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing Senate negotiations related to a government shutdown. On November 3, 2025, Crane posted that only a handful of Senate Democrats were needed to end the impasse.

In his post from November 3, Crane wrote: “Only five more senate democrats are needed to end the shutdown. Three have already defied Chuck Schumer.

Senators Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego could provide 40% of the needed votes.

Country over party, right?”

Later that day, he added another brief comment: “He’s right.” On November 4, Crane followed up with a succinct endorsement using an emoji: “”

Crane’s comments come amid heightened tensions in Congress as lawmakers debate measures to reopen the federal government. His reference to Senators Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego points toward efforts by some members of the Democratic caucus to cross party lines during these negotiations.

Eli Crane has represented Arizona’s 2nd congressional district since 2023 after succeeding Tom O’Halleran. Born in Tucson in 1980, Crane is currently 43 years old and resides in Oro Valley.
