The Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) has been reauthorized and expanded as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The updated program allows downwinders and uranium workers to apply for a one-time compensation of $100,000 if they meet specific qualifications.

Applications are now open, and individuals interested in applying can do so online. Those with questions about the program or their application can contact Civil.RECA@usdoj.gov. All claims must be submitted before December 31, 2027.

Eli Crane is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing Arizona’s 2nd district after replacing Tom O’Halleran in 2023. Crane was born in Tucson, Arizona in 1980 and resides in Oro Valley.
