Quang Nguyen, a Republican member of the Arizona State House representing the state’s 1st House District since 2021, has used his social media platform to address recent federal and state actions concerning fentanyl. On December 15, 2025, Nguyen highlighted a statement from President Trump regarding an executive order on fentanyl.

In his post dated December 15, Nguyen wrote: “On December 15, 2025, President Trump stated he would sign an executive order formally classifying fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction to enhance the U.S. government’s ability to respond to the crisis.”

The following day, on December 16, Nguyen continued the discussion by referencing both national fatalities and legislative plans: “More than 100,000 young Americans die annually. Fentanyl is declared a weapon of mass destruction by President Trump today. These NO votes cannot be taken lightly This upcoming 2026 session, I will introduce bills to reduce both the possession for sale and trafficking from”

Nguyen was elected in 2021 after succeeding Steve Pierce in Arizona’s legislature. His recent statements align with national attention on fentanyl policy and indicate plans for state-level legislation targeting drug offenses.
