As summer ends in Prescott, several community events are scheduled for September, taking advantage of the area’s mild fall weather.

The Yavapai County Fair will be held from September 4 to 7 at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds. This event has been part of the community since 1913 and includes children’s activities, entertainment, music, rides, vendors, agricultural exhibits, and a variety of food options.

On September 20 and 21, the Sharlot Hall Museum will host the Prescott Indian Art Market. Now in its 27th year, this event features works by more than 80 Native American artists.

Hope Fest Arizona is set for September 20 at the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza. The festival offers interactive games and activities for families and friends, live music, a car and bike show, and the HOPE Serves Resource Fair.

Veterans can access a range of services at the Yavapai County Stand Down on September 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1040 Whipple Street. Services include housing and employment assistance as well as legal support and medical care.

The Prescott Highland Games and Celtic Faire will take place on September 27-28 at “Loch Watson.” Attendees can expect live bands, pipe band performances, a Highland Dance competition, food vendors, merchandise booths, genealogy resources, children’s activities, athletic competitions and more.

Also on September 27-28 around the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza is the Prescott Vette Set All Corvette Car Show. The event returns for its nineteenth year with classic and new Corvettes displayed downtown.

Looking ahead to America’s upcoming semiquincentennial celebration in 2026 marking the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th (https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/declaration), Mayor Phil Goode noted that significant events took place before this date: “For example,” he said,“the Continental Army was formed on June 14,1775,and the Battle of Bunker Hill took place a few days later on June17.In fact between the Battle of Bunker Hill in June of1775and July4 ,1776 ,there were several important engagements between British military and General George Washington’s newly formed Continental Army.”

Mayor Goode also highlighted two members of the Prescott family who played notable roles during America’s fight for independence: “Colonel William Prescott was hailed as the heroic commander at the Battle of Bunker Hill, and there’s a statue in his honor in Boston today.Citizen/physician Dr.Samuel Prescott finished Paul Revere’s historic midnight ride to Concord, because Paul Revere got captured by the British.”
