U.S. Representative Eli Crane, who serves Arizona’s 2nd district in Congress, posted a series of critical statements on his social media account between December 2 and December 3, 2025. The posts addressed issues within higher education and congressional stock trading.

On December 2, Crane commented on alleged developments in academia, writing, “If true, another shameful example of what’s wrong with higher education in America.”

Later that day, he addressed the topic of lawmakers engaging in financial markets: “Sign me up. Members of Congress should NOT be trading stocks.”

Continuing this theme on December 3, Crane added: “YES. It’s ridiculous that this still needs to be debated. No wonder nobody likes Congress.”

Crane has represented Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District since replacing Tom O’Halleran in 2023 and currently resides in Oro Valley. Born in Tucson in 1980, Crane is serving his constituents during a period when ethical standards for public officials are a recurring subject of national discussion.
